General
Simple performances require simple equipment without too many bells and whistles. If you don't need to do anything more than mix two or more signals for small shows or announcements, the simple and excellent XENYX 502 mixer that has everything you need for a great sound.
The 5-input, 2-bus XENYX 502 with XENYX microphone preamp can accommodate a dynamic or a condenser microphone and the two-band ‘British’ equalizer is famous for its warm, dynamic sound. Play music between sets via the RCA CD/tape inputs (assignable to main mix or control room/headphone outputs) and record your performance to an outboard recording device via the RCA outputs.
As this mixer only weighs 550 grams, it is the portable, practical way to make sure a speech or scaled-down performance with excellent sound. Schools, meeting rooms, coffee shops and songsmiths the world over would benefit from this minute mixer!

Het blijft een Behringer product dus er zit een ruis op de mic pre-amp maar had dit verwacht bij het aankopen.
Gebruik de mixer zelf als tussenkoppeling tussen de main mixer en een IEM systeem omdat de koptelefoon aansluiting van het IEM systeem ruk is.
De kabel is erg lang met een adapter in het midden.
Helaas is het plankje niet geheel flush dus wiebelt een beetje, ondanks dat de mixer erg solide aanvoelt.
Er zit wel een erg groot powerbrick bij, dat was een verassing. De 'drie punt' power aansluiting zit ook niet heel erg strak, dus bij verplaatsen van de mixer kan deze los schieten.
Kwa mixen kan je een Mic, 2x Line en 1x "2 track" in het main-kanaal mixen, dus 't is mogelijk in totaal 3 bronnen en 1 mic samen te mixen, wat meer is dan in aanvankelijk dacht (max 2 kanalen).
Icm de jack adapters (om RCA aan te sluiten) goedkoper dan de modernere usb-mixers, en als je een DAC gebruikt heb je deze usb-functie niet nodig. In zo'n geval is dit nog steeds na al die jaren een prima keuze!
Toch maar drie sterren, niet zo zeer vanwege het artikel zelf, maar omdat er op de Bax website verkeerde informatie over wordt vermeld. Er staat namelijk bij:
"Dit product wordt geleverd met een versie van Tracktion 4 (DAW). Deze kan na de registratie gedownload worden."
Dat is helaas niet waar. Na registratie krijg je geen OEM versie van Tracktion, omdat dit kleine mengpaneel geen USB aansluiting heeft en daardoor niet in aanmerking komt.
Wel jammer, want ik had de software graag geprobeerd. Helaas heeft Bax na een week nog niet op mijn emails hierover gereageerd.
Het werd wel snel verstuurd, maar de informatie op de site en de after-service laten helaas te wensen over.
