Algemeen:
Een patchbay wordt vaak vergeten als handig hulpstuk in (home)studio's en bij live-producties. Met een patchbay heeft u namelijk toegang tot de in- en uitgangen van uw (studio)apparatuur, waardoor u gemakkelijker bij uw in- en uitgangen kunt. Dit zorgt daarbij ook voor een verminderde slijtage, doordat u niet telkens de connectoren aan moet sluiten, er weer uithalen en weer moet aansluiten. Ook bespaart het u veel tijd omdat u tijdens een opname of weergave snel en gemakkelijk wijzigingen aan kunt brengen in het opname/weergavecircuit. U hoeft nu dus geen halsbrekende toeren uit te halen om een kabeltje te veranderen of een aansluiting te wijzigen, terwijl u ook uw studio netjes houdt doordat u geen wirwar van kabels meer hebt liggen!
