General

Devotees of the lush and woolly, Hendrix-grade British 'Plexi' sound that helped shape classic rock as we know it will find everything they ever wanted in the Hotone Nano Legacy Purple Wind amp head. This micro amp has been lovingly voiced to mimic none other than the Marshall Plexi amps of old, giving you the same beautifully fluffy and mid-rich distortion, just at a more living-room-friendly volume level. The tight build and fitted headphone output make it the perfect practise partner, and since the quality and character of sound is retained at a lower volume, it's also a great recording amp, or the ideal amp for smaller living room gigs and rehearsals.

Connections & Controls

The Purple Wind kits you out with a stripped down set of gain, bass, middle, and treble controls for fully customising your 'Plexi' sound, and the amp responds just as sensitively to tweaks as its larger counterparts so you're assured of deep sonic control. Around the back, you'll find the headphone output alongside an AUX input for hooking up an external audio source, an FX loop send and return port, and an output for a 4 to 16 Ohm cabinet, giving you a broad array of speaker options. Whether you team it up with one of the purpose-designed Nano Legacy speaker cabinets or your go-to 12 inch cabinet, this wee amp completes smooth and easy-going setup.

The Hotone Nano Legacy Amplifiers

While other builders are loading even more modelling tech into their amps, Hotone have taken a surprising turn. Each of the Nano Legacy transistor amplifiers have been designed to emulate just one single legendary amp. The result is a set of focussed amplifiers that deliver more than convincing replicas of the clean and drive channels of their amp of inspiration. Hotone even go as far as saying that these are 'tiny amps with a massive sound', and they're not wrong. While each 5 Watt example can be carried in one hand, these little monsters pack blistering might.

Hotone Nano Legacy Purple Wind 5W Guitar Amplifier Head
Wrote the following about Hotone Nano Legacy Purple Wind 5W Guitar Amplifier Head

NAMM 2016: Extra Small and Extra Low With Peavey's 6505 Series

The Peavey 6505 series is widely acclaimed, but apparently the amp manufacturer still felt something was missing from the lineup. That's why they've added two new products to the range. One is called the Piranha Micro Head, a 20W hybrid top that can practically fit into your jacket pocket. The other is the Guitar Subwoofer, a cabinet with an 18" speaker and 300 watts of power to beef up the low end. Together, they're a great pair.
