Product no: 9000-0025-0397 Bax Music Warranty: This product comes with a 3-year warranty.

General

While the ENGL MetalMaster is geared toward heavier music styles, you can turn to the RockMaster for all your classic rock needs. Not only does the ENGL 317 RockMaster head deliver a classic sound, but it also has a fitting classic look complete with chicken-head knobs. It has two channels, each with their own tone control, and there's a master volume control so you can adjust your dynamics without affecting the balance. With 40 watts of power, the ENGL 317 is plenty comfortable on medium-sized stages.

Sound and controls

The clean channel delivers those great sparkling cleans that EL84 amps are famous for, and if you turn up the gain, you can transition to a nice crunch. The gain channel picks up where the clean channel leaves off, and goes from a light crunch to a heavy drive that borders on distortion. A 3-band EQ makes it easy to then further adjust the sound to suit your needs. Finally, there are mid-shape and master volume boost buttons so you can boost either the mid-range or the total sound.

Connectors

The ENGL RockMaster 40 can be connected to any 8 or 16-ohm speaker. It also features an FX loop, as well as connectors for an optional ENGL foot switch. Thanks to the built-in power attenuator and speaker emulated line-out, this amp is a great choice for home or studio use. In short, if you're looking for a versatile guitar amp head with a classic rock sound, then the ENGL RockMaster 40 is most definitely worth your consideration.

You can get either model as an amp head or a combo.
