Mackie SRM 550 Active Speaker

With the Mackie SRM 550, you've got yourself an exceptionally strong active full-range speaker. It is - in the words of the American manufacturer - built like a tank, so you can depend on a powerful performance, regardless of the setting or the choice of music. The SRM550 is equipped with a class-D amplifier with a peak power of 1,600 watts, and features DSP processing, as well as a range of connectors (XLR, jack and RCA). Thanks to various adjustable settings, you can always create the sound you want.

SRM550: Components

To give your low end the necessary power, this Mackie speaker is equipped with a 12-inch woofer with a ferrite magnet. A 1-inch tweeter with a 1.4-inch horn, meanwhile, disperses your trebles at an angle of 90 by 50 degrees. These components are housed by a 15mm-thick poplar cabinet with a scratch-proof black lacquer finish, which makes the SRM 550 suitable for professional applications.

Settings

Equipped with Mackie's DSP processor, the SRM550 delivers the right frequency characteristics for each purpose. You have a choice of four different modes (PA, DJ, Monitor and Soloist), so the optimal response is always just a push of a button away, without the need for elaborate equalizers. An additional Feedback Destroyer does exactly what its name implies: with four narrow frequency filters it reduces feedback to a minimum, but leaves the quality of your audio intact. Not only does the SRM 550 produce a powerful, clear output, it's also easy to work with - we wouldn't expect anything less from Mackie.
