That's why Martin developed these longer-lasting MSP7050 Custom Light Phosphor Bronze strings with a special coating for enhanced durability. Lifetime strings are better protected from dirt and corrosion, and are able to maintain their original sound much longer. What's more, the core has been wound with a phosphor bronze alloy so you can produce a rich, warm tone.

Ik was al een fan van de SP serie snaren van Martin omdat deze snaren erg sterk bleken te zijn, ik breek ze in ieder geval zelden terwijl ik de 'gewone' snaren achter elkaar brak.
Ik heb de meeste gecoate snaren wel geprobeerd en ben aangenaam verrast door de 'cleartone' coating, nauwelijks voelbaar maar ik doe er 2-3 x zolang mee.

Dit zijn mijn favoriete snaren voor dreadnought gitaren met een donkere klank (mahonie, sapele, ceder).
Deze snaren klinken wat helderder dan 80/20 snaren van Martin welke een dreadnought vaak wat te bassig maken.
Voor een OM of Parlor zou ik wel voor 80/20 gaan.

Er zit een 'maar' aan deze snaren wat geen minpunt is maar waar je wel rekening mee moet houden: Ze doen er vrij lang over om ingespeeld te raken. Ik vindt ze eigenlijk pas na 5-10 uur lekker klinken. Ga ze dus niet voor een optreden wisselen, dat kan met de 80/20 wel maar met deze moet je even geduld hebben voordat het sprankelende eruit komt.

Verder geven deze snaren erg veel sustain, fijn voor met name fingerpicking.
