General

The Lucinda LG-BS1-E is a traditional Mexican Bajo Sexto. The Bajo Sexto is an instrument commonly heard in Mexican music, and can be thought of as a sort of variation on the bass guitar. Regular bass guitars have a standard all-fourths tuning of E-A-D-G. The Bajo Sexto has six bass strings tuned in all fourths E-A-D-G-C-F tuning. As such, it has two extra higher bass strings. In total, the Bajo Sexto has 12 strings; all six bass strings are paired with a string that is tuned exactly one octave higher. The traditional tuning for the Bajo Sexto is Ee-Aa-Dd-Gg-Cc-Ff. though the alternative Ee-Aa-Dd-Gg-Bb-Ee tuning is also used quite often, especially by folks who are used to playing guitar.

Electro-acoustic

Because the Bajo Sexto has six bass strings and six guitar strings, it produces a full, deep sound. The unique string combination also makes it possible to play both bass lines and chord accompaniment either simultaneously or separately. The Lucinda LG-BS1-E is equipped with a pickup and a 4-band EQ so it's easy to amplify and use with effects. As such, this unique instrument isn't just great for traditional Mexican music, but also for guitarists and bass players who want to try something a little different.

Bajo Sexto

The Bajo Sexto (Spanish for sixth bass) is a traditional Mexican bass instrument with six pairs of strings. Each string pair has a bass string and a guitar string, and the instrument is traditionally tuned in Ee-Aa-Dd-Gg-Cc-Ff, though the alternative Ee-Aa-Dd-Gg-Bb-Ee is also used quite often. The Bajo Sexto is originally from southern Mexico, but it's also used a lot in music from nothern Mexico and southern Texas. The styles that most commonly feature it are Tex-Mex, conjunto, and música mexicana-tejana. These bands usually consist of a Bajo Sexto, an accordion and a guitar. The guitar produces a full, deep sound, and as such is often used for playing accompaniment.
