General

Since Henny Vrienten is considered one of the best bassists that the Netherlands has ever produced, it's little wonder that Netherlands-based builders, Homestead Guitars have treated him to his very own signature electro-acoustic bass. The Henny Vrienten BsJ-HVs Signature has a jumbo body finished with a solid Adirondack spruce soundboard; a densely grained, balanced tonewood that combines with the Javanese rosewood back and sides to produce a rich and warm foundation. Case included.

The Henny Vrienten Signature BsJ-HVs: Refined Detail

The extreme depth of thought that has gone into building this bass is evidenced in the subtle abalone soundhole rosette and matching binding, and the mother-of-pearl dot inlays that finish the solid bridge pins. The top of the Homestead-style headstock has an asymmetrically ribbed notch while, at Henny's request, owl shaped mother-of-pearl inlays have been used to mark the positions along the ebony fretboard with a red-tamarind heart-rate motif at the 19th fret. Henny Vrienten's signature has been stamped on the headstock in mother-of-pearl to complete a model made for the dedicated aficionado.

Fishman Bass Sonitone

The fitted Fishman Bass Sonitone piezo pickup system has been discreetly installed inside the body of this bass, leaving the soundboard, sides, and back clean and able to resonate freely. The battery compartment even comes in the form of a fabric pouch that's tucked just inside the soundhole along with a set of tone and volume controls, while the jack output has been integrated into the strap button on the base. These smart little design details ensure that the acoustic tone of the instrument remains entirely in tact and shapes a round, warm and bright amplified sound with a direct response.

Tips or comments about this product
  • In Henny Vrienten's own words: "This instrument sounds like an upright bass. Something you seldom come across with an acoustic bass."
