While the original 73JR is already a truly impressive piece of gear, Heritage Audio take things even further with the upgraded version of this 73-style preamp in a 500 Series module housing. Equipped with an extremely discrete circuit to ensure pure sound with minimal distortion, the 73JRII is made for every engineer who flat out refuses to use an equaliser while they track audio. Compared to the original design, the integrated class-A high-pass filter has been tweaked and is now 'sweepable' from 20Hz to 220Hz for tighter lows, while re-amping the sound of already recorded instruments such as basses and guitars is possible via the built-in Line Mode, allowing you to add a warm analogue touch to any lifeless signal.

Custom Transformers & Class-A JFETs

Both the JR73 and its MK2 evolution make use of custom transformers - a feature that's typical of high-end gear. In addition, to guarantee authentic 73-style sound, this Heritage Audio preamp comes loaded with a triple gain-stage circuit and gets its juice from on an on-board 24V power supply. Conveniently, whenever a jack cable is plugged in, the unit automatically switches from MIC to DI mode, which is fully based on a class-A JFET circuit and sits ahead of the MIC transformer so it adds a little extra life to any incoming bass signals.
