The EWI USB provides beginners with a great first step into the world of sampling, but is also great for more advanced musicians and producers. Simply connect the wind controller to a PC or Mac, and the included software provides you with the finest sounds in various styles.

The Akai EWI USB is supplied with Aria Player: sound generating software that has been developed By Garitan specifically for this wind controller in cooperation with Pogue Art & Technology. The software provides you with 75 sounds in a wide range of styles, from classic to pop and jazz, and allows you to use up to four sounds simultaneously. The EWI USB is truly one of the first of its kind, making Akai a real go-to brand!

Mocht je een elektrische saxofoon zoeken dan kun je beter naar Yamaha of Roland zoeken.
Het apparaat werkt net iets anders maar heeft wel veel mogelijkheden.

Ik heb een niet zo standaard setup:
Ik plug mijn EWI in op een usb hub die plug ik in een verloopstukje van usb + lightning in naar lightning uit naar de iPad.
De output van de iPad gaat via een 4 aderige minijack kabel naar de iRig stompbox en die lus ik door naar mijn Eventide Mixing link waar ik ook mijn reguliere saxmic op heb zitten.

Waar ik wel nog niet helemaal over uit ben:
* Ik heb heel veel lucht "over" t.o.v. saxofoon spelen. Kan de EWI meer open worden gezet?
* Ik vind het moeilijk om een toon langer aan te houden... Lijkt of EWI vooral reageert op de aanzet, maar mogelijk niet op de airflow.

Zeer goede service ook in Belgie. 9:00 stipt op afgesproken dag afgeleverd. Nog extra pen in verpakking was leuke touch.

Instrument werkt zeer degelijk. Wel een drietal uur als leek nodig gehad om alles optimaal te krijgen. Websites zoals patchman en ewiusb.com waren van onschatbare hulp voor het opzet, maar dit is meer een kritiek op akai, zeker niet op bax.

Ik vindt dit een heerlijk instrument om te spelen. Zo',n natuurlijk blazers-geluid krijg ik op het keybord niet voor elkaar. Door de aanraaktoetsen supersnel. Een aanwinst voor mijn setup. Echter er is wel een waarschuwing op zijnplaats. Op mijn 64 bit windows computer blijkt de software niet goed te werken. Het programma stopt ermee zodra ik de instellingen van het apparaat probeer te wijzigen. Jammer, maar gelukkig is er een gratis programma op het internet te vinden waarmee ik prima verder kan.

Akai Launches Two New Bluetooth Controllers: the LPD8 and LPK25 Wireless

After they launched the LPD8 and the LPK25, Akai developed wireless versions of both these controllers, namely the AKAI LPD8 Wireless USB MIDI controller and the AKAI LPK25 Wireless USB MIDI keyboard. Both are equipped with a Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy) interface, but you can also connect them to your Mac or PC via USB, which charges them at the same time. When operating them via Bluetooth, both controllers require 3 AA batteries.
