Oh, how time flies! KRK has already reached the 3rd generation of its Rokits. This is the medium edition of the series: the KRK RP6 G3. Although it is equipped with a 6-inch woofer that carries the familiar yellow KRK-DNA, this is a new type! The design of the cabinet has been adjusted in several ways. The shape of the bass reflex port has been made smoother, to ensure a better balance in the lower frequencies. The front baffle has been updated and has a smoother shape, in order to prevent diffraction. Together with a new tweeter, this results in an even cleaner sound and a high-grade directivity. If you are in the speaker's sweet spot, you will be able to hear every detail of the mix.
KRK RP6 G3: form and function
The KRK RP6 G3 is a very balanced monitor: it's not too small, nor too large and it is fit for all kinds of home and project studios. Thanks to the bi-amp amplifier module, woofer and tweeter are controlled separately, which is a must for anyone who requires a transparent sound reproduction. The heavy bass frequencies never get in the way of the power that goes to the tweeter. The reflex port ensures the necessary bass punch and thanks to the frontal positioning, you won't experience any disturbing bass resonances when the speaker is near a wall or corner of a room. The underside of the monitor has a neoprene anti-slip layer, that mildly attenuates vibrations.
User-friendliness
The RP6 G3 offers a lot of user-friendliness: its weight is just over 8 kg, making it easy to transport or place it on smaller tables, shelves or stands. It offers you a variety of connectors: RCA, XLR and 6.3 mm jack. For every adjustment of the sound, there is an HF as well as an LF controller that ensures attenuation or amplification in steps of a few dBs. These adjustments allow you to let the RP6 G3 respond to a space the way it should. This 3rd generation RP6 builds on the success of its predecessors and offers an undistorted, clear sound with a defined sweet spot.
