General

With their American Elite series of bass guitars, Fender introduces an impressive new addition to their already formidable lineup. Stylistically, this series is a blend of old and new: a vintage-inspired body with a classic, sober appeal, paired with a great bit of modern engineering in its electronics. Furthermore, the ash body features a HiMass bridge that offers the same great sustain as a string-through-body construction would offer.

21st century vintage bass guitar

As we mentioned before, the Fender American Elite Dimension Bass blends vintage and modern by way of a retro look combined with 21st century technology. The neck, for instance, features graphite reinforcement rods that help keep the neck from warping due to changes in temperature and humidity. It also has a compound fretboard radius, which means the fretboard's curvature flattens out as you get higher up on the neck, which helps enhance playing comfort. What's more, the neck features a special asymmetrical C profile for a quick and easy feel.

American Elite Dimension electronics

The American Elite's two humbuckers are powered by an 18V preamp with an active 3-way tone circuit. This results in a punchy sound with plenty of definition and clarity so that you'll always cut through the mix. With the 5-way position switch you can effortlessly toggle through the various pickup configurations with both humbucker and single-coil settings. Besides the volume control, each of the three tone circuits has a boost and a cut function to either increase or reduce the relevant frequencies.

Thursday 21 January 2016

Fender knows like no other that you never change a winning team. Besides a few little adjustments here and there, they usually don't mess with their successful models too much. Until now. The famous manufacturer decided to get rid of the Deluxe name and re-brand it with the slightly classier Elite moniker. Of course, this also goes with a few adjustments for the various Teles and Strats, as well as the Jazz, Precision and Dimension bass guitars.
