Compiling a treasure trove of effects, AmpliTube has been lending guitarists a software-based hand for over a decade. And while we've watched as hardware steadily migrates to software, get ready for your brain to be broken since IK Multimedia have just flipped the trend by packing the power of AmpliTube into a range of physical, pedalboard-ready stompboxes. The X-Space is home to a DSP that produces exactly the same reverb effects found in AmpliTube and besides that, is a fully functioning 24-bit, 192kHz USB audio interface complete with MIDI. This future-thinking effects pedal comes wrapped in a hard-wearing aluminium housing and has been fully prepped for guitarists that want AmpliTube sound on stage but don't want to have to faff with a laptop.

De X-Vibe heeft veel mogelijkheden en er is naar mijn mening veel interessante geluiden mee te maken. Ik heb de X-Vibe voor mijn gitaar pedalboard aangeschaft. Mooi en handig is het feit dat als je Amplitube gebruikt automatisch na de registratie de software versie van het apparaat beschikbaar is. Het instellen van de parameters gaat via de computer ook nog eens handiger dan via het pedal zelf. Je kunt de presets vanuit Amplitube via de X-gear library tool overzetten naar de X-Vibe pedaal. Het enige knullige (vandaar 4 sterren) aan de display mogelijkheden is dat je alleen kunt kiezen voor de naam weergave van een preset in de vorm van: Of de presetnaam alleen, presetcode+naam of banknr+ naam. Maar er staat dus geen footswitch aanduiding bij zodat je ook weet welke footswitch je moet bedienen om de geselecteerde preset in te schakelen. Als je namelijk met de presetknop naar een preset zoekt maar het effect staat uitgeschakeled, dan brand er bij de footswitches geen lampje dus kan je per ongeluk de verkeerde footswitch bedienen en daarmee ook de verkeerde preset activeren. Ik heb dit kunnen oplossen door een iRig BlueBoard te gebruiken waarmee ik via een midi cc opdracht het effect in-/uitschakel. Bij de preset instellingen vande Boss MS-3 kan je eenvoudig ook een midi preset meegeven voor de X-Vibe zodat je bij een preset van de MS-3 ook automatisch de gewenste preset van X-Vibe selecteert.

Wrote the following about IK Multimedia X-Space Effect Pedal with Audio Interface

De X-Space is bij mij in gebruik met synthesizers. In vergelijking met de Eventide H9 slaat dit apparaat zeker geen slecht figuur! De 16 galm algoritmes zijn zeer divers, van klassieke "Room" en "Hall" tot meer exotische types waarin ook phasing zit verwerkt. Pre-delay kun je zo lang maken dat er een soort reverb-echo ontstaat. Ook de heel korte galm geeft een mooie ambience aan bijv. sequences. De galm klinkt in beginsel helder en wordt niet modderig. De keuze van de parameters bevalt mij. Je kunt bijv. bij de Hall (maar ook bij andere types) apart het verloop van het hoog, mid en laag in de reverb tail instellen. Met modulatie (diepte en snelheid) kun je de reverb levendiger maken en, indien extremer gebruikt, zijn hier zeer speciale effecten mee te bereiken. De shimmer-algoritmes klinken prettig, alhoewel Eventide daar mooier mee voor de dag komt. Als je zelf een effect gemaakt hebt dat bevalt of waar je later mee verder wilt, kun je het eenvoudig als preset opslaan. Dit apparaat is gebouwd als een huis en de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is uitstekend te noemen.
