De HS5500 beschikt niet over een CD-drive, en het is dus praktisch onmogelijk om een CD af te spelen. Niet als u de BU-5501 optionele CD-drive koopt, welke u gemakkelijk in de HS-5500 kunt plaatsen. Hierna heeft u de beschikking over een snelle CD-speler, met alle functionaliteiten die de HS-5500 zelf al biedt! De CD-drive werkt plug & play, dus het gebruik ervan is alleen een kwestie van aansluiten. Hij ondersteunt tevens CDDA audio discs, en wordt geleverd met en nieuw frontpaneel zodat er niets van te zien is dat de HS-5500 af fabriek geen CD-speler heeft!
