General
The Electro Voice ZX1 Sub is a passive subwoofer with a 12-inch woofer. It's one of the most compact subwoofers that is also durable and lightweight, and it makes the ideal partner for the ZX1 full-range speaker. The electronics from this series have all been designed to fit perfectly with one another, so you can easily put together the perfect sound system without having to deal with extra cables or external signal processors.
Sound
This compact subwoofer provides a big portion of bass that you can hear and feel. The 12-inch woofer reacts quickly to the signal, producing a bass that is pointed and defined, and the wooden cabinet provides the sound with added warmth. Despite its slight dimensions, this is a really potent cabinet! It provides 400 watts of continuous power with a 1,600-watt peak and a maximum sound pressure level of 127 dB. We think it's safe to say that this little guy will blow you away!
Design
The ZX1 Sub has a solid design with a cabinet made of 15mm-thick plywood. It also has a metal grille to protect the woofer from damage. This ZX1 Sub has two sturdy metal handles that make it easy to manage, but this sub is also frequently used in fixed installations where saving space is essential. Moreover, this subwoofer is also equipped with an adapter for a distance rod, so you can mount a full-range speaker on top of it, should you so choose.

ik denk ik schrijf ook eventjes een review over de passieve versie van dit subje aangezien deze er nog niet was en de actieve reviews in overvloed had.
ik heb zelf 4 stuks van deze subjes in combinatie met de ZX1-90 topkasten (hier heb ik er 8 van)
ik heb zelf een verhuurfirma met aan PA materiaal de 2 merken D&B audiotechnik en Electro Voice.
electro voice dient hierbij als het gooi en smijt werk dit omdat deze speakers financieel aantrekkelijk zijn (heb onder andere zx1, live x powered series en tour-x systemen), maar je hier een goed prijs kwaliteit voor terug krijgt.
het zx1 subje gaat op klus als sub-top setje (zx1 set) met dubbel of enkel sub. kan hier dus 2 losse setjes met enkele subjes van maken!
dit setje met enkel sub is echt voor huis tuin en kamer kleine cafe toepassingen een geweldige setup tot een man of 80, met dubbel sub durf ik er prima een 120 man mee te voorzien!
het is ten opzichten van onze andere systemen het meest compacte systeem maar daarmee wel een van het meest gebruikte (omdat het gewoonweg een makkelijk systeem is wat klein compact ligt van gewicht is maar bovendien echt wel power heeft en z'n mannetje wel staat).
ik heb het systeem met dubbele sub (4x zx1 sub + 2x zx1) en een klein dj setje zelfs al eens in een volkswagen up zien weg rijden, hoe kicken is dat, vooral gezien het formaat en het volume wat dit subje speelt (en strak blijft klinken) is het eigenlijk bijna belachelijk te noemen vandaar dat ik hem 5 sterren geef!

- het subje klinkt verbazingwekkend dik (komt sirieus laag af gezien formaat)
- met dit 12 inch subje kun je niets anders zeggen dan dat dit strak klinkt (geen wapper sub of sub die te traag is om de toppen bij te houden vanwege het grote formaat woofer)
- volume ik sta er steeds toch wel weer van te kijken hoe hard dit kleine subje kan.
- gewicht (een kind van 6 jaar zet dit setje nog wel weg)
- punten
- standaard word het subje geleverd met een flens om een tussenpaal met buis in te plaatsen dit staat iets wat wankel heb deze daarom vervangen voor M20 van K&M enige is wel dat deze net iets groter waren in diameter dan de originele statief flens van EV dus deze moesten iets wat aangepast worden.
- het subje heeft wel een versterker nodig met aardig wat vermogen om tot zijn recht te komen (heb er zelf meestal een Q99 van EV of een QSC GX5 als budget alternatief achter hangen)
