Today, Pioneer presents their new HDJ-700 headphones. The inspiration for this new model is evident: Pioneer's own HDJ-500s. For years, the HDJ-500 headphones have been a popular entry-level all-rounder for DJs, but it's also not uncommon to see them worn casually at home or on the road . Come 2015, Pioneer decided it was time to reconsider their classic headphones' design, and have come up with the new HDJ-700 model. Pioneer HDJ-700 headphones: characteristicsThe Pioneer HDJ-700 headphones have a striking design, but feature fewer coloured details than their predecessors from the HDJ-500 series. As far as looks are concerned, this new headphone line has more in common with recent releases such as the HDJ-C70 and HDJ-2000MK2 models. Pioneer won't cease production of the HDJ-500s just yet, but introduces the HDJ-700s as a slightly more advanced alternative. The construction of the HDJ-700 headphones may not strike you as innovative at first glance, but looks can be deceiving. Their headband features a stainless steel core, which ensures it retains its shape, and makes it less susceptible to wear and tear. The aluminium components of the hinges make the headphones stronger, so intensive use won't damage them. CablesLike the HDJ-500s, the HDJ-700 headphones come with detachable cables. Both a 1-metre straight cable and a 1.2-metre partly coiled cable are included. The former is ideal for use at home and listening sessions on the road, while the latter is a practical asset in the DJ booth, where it gives you just that little bit of extra elbow room you need without pulling the plug out of its socket. Technology and driversTo ensure outstanding sound and excellent bass reproduction at all times - even for devices that don't have a heavy built-in headphone preamp - Pioneer's HDJ-700 headphones are equipped with powerful 40mm neodymium drivers. Not only does that make them ideal for monitoring tracks in noisy environments like clubs, it also makes them perfect for use at home. Like the 500s before them, the Pioneer HDJ-700s use a 19mm diaphragm, guaranteeing incredibly detailed audio. ComfortIf you're looking for a comfortable pair of headphones, the Pioneer HDJ-700s won't let you down. Their headband is fitted with a padded lining that rests pleasantly on your head during long listening sessions, and their on-ear ear pads are made of soft yet firm polyurethane. To ensure an optimal fit, the headband can be adjusted. Available in different coloursThe Pioneer HDJ-700 headphones come in four different designs, all with a different colour scheme. Apart from the white model, the headphones all feature subtle colour details, giving them a slightly more low-key look than their predecessors. The headphones only show a bit of colour on the single hinge located on the right side (which allows for easy one-eared monitoring) and on the earpiece brackets. The white and black editions feature similar, stylish dark silver details. A special textured finish gives the earpieces an edgy look, and they no longer feature the Pioneer logo, which now only adorns the headband. This minimalistic touch really brings out these fashionable headphones' sleek design. The Pioneer HDJ-700 headphones are available in four different colours: FinallyThe Pioneer HDJ-700 headphones will be available from the end of October, but you can pre-order them now.
