Marshall Steel Series: Audio Gear With an Industrial Look and a Warm, Old-School Sound

Wednesday 24 February 2016

The love for music and sound quality runs deep with Marshall, world-famous manufacturer of iconic guitar amps - and they say there's nothing more 'metal' than steel. As an homage to their characteristic gritty guitar sound, Marshall has introduced two sets of headphones as well as a wireless Bluetooth speaker with stylish Steel-inspired finishes: the Kilburn Steel, Major II Steel and Monitor Steel. They provide industrial looks with a warm, old-school sound whether you're at home or on tour (or on the train, in the pub or library for that matter).

Marshall Kilburn Steel: compact power

Weighing in at just 3 kilos, the completely wireless Marshall Kilburn Steel Bluetooth speaker is highly portable. We'd say it was small enough to fit in your purse, but that's not very rock 'n' roll. While it's very small, though, the Kilburn Steel still offers impressive sound with a warm, clear sound and deep bass. Using the bass and treble knobs on top of the brushed steel panel, you can fine-tune that sound and add some highs or lows to your music. What's more, the speaker has a battery life of up to 20 hours, so you can party until well past the break of dawn.

Marshall Major II Steel: deep and warm sound

The Marshall Major, which was the Major II's predecessor, is still very popular among music lovers everywhere. And no, that's not just because of its vintage-style design that's reminiscent of classic Marshall amps - it offers a great sound to back that look up. Still, Marshall decided there was room for improvement, so they released the Marshall Major II Steel, with improved drivers, a detachable cable and cable inputs on both ear pieces. You can even connect an additional pair of headphones to the second ear piece and listen to your favourite music with a friend. Warning: excessive headbanging in close proximity to one another may cause cranial injury!

Marshall Monitor Steel: studio quality on the go

The Major II's passive noise cancelling is quite impressive, but the Marshall Monitor Steel completely does away with any ambient noise. Despite their over-ear construction, these headphones still manage to be lightweight and highly portable, so you'll never feel like you have to walk around with some kind of massive ear muffs on to enjoy high-quality audio when you leave the house. Furthermore, the ingenious F.T.F. (Felt Treble Filter) system allows you to customise your listening experience; leave the felt filters in for a warm sound, and take them out for more clarity. Of course, the Monitor headphones also feature the clever detachable cable, along with the inputs on both ear pieces.
