NUX Roctary rotary & poly-octave effects pedal

This pedal deserves 5 stars for VALUE alone! It's a silly price for a pedal this good. Specifics:

1. The SOUND is warm, rich and better than units costing many times as much. Authentic Leslie sound, with nice "wobble".

2. Cannot fault the BUILD quality, solid meta case, big easy to adjust knobs, solid foot switches.

3. Outstanding FEATURES, way above most pedals, even in higher price ranges. I admit I didn't really understand why they combined an "Octave" (POG type) pedal with a Leslie simulator, but after using it for a while, now I get it. You can turn off the octave feature and never use it, the pedal would still be great value. But if you do, adding a little low-octave (levels of both 1 octave down and one octave up are adjustable) gives a unique quality to your sound. I don't use POG pedals, so it was nice to add that to my board without sacrificing space.

Also, it has a pretty cool built-in drive feature which sounds good as well.

4. Huge ADJUSTABILITY without resorting to LED menus etc. EVERY parameter has a knob, so you can adjust the speeds of both bass and treble horns (is that cool or what?) as well as the balance between them! All parameters are a simple rotating knob, well marked so you can remember or note your settings (I shoot a picture with my phone). Amazing how many pedals do not have markers visible enough to do that.

5. The speed ramp and brake work perfectly, you can almost feel the air coming off the Leslie! And it has this cool LED that shows the speaker speed, more useful than you might think.

6. It is STEREO out. Go on, make your board stereo, you know you want to.

7. There is an expression pedal IN to control speed, but I have not tried it.

OK, any negatives? I feel churlish to mention anything at this price, but for balance purposes:

- No battery power, you need standard 9v in.

- Documentation is adequate but not fantastic. Like almost every other pedal manufacturer on the planet.

- This is a really MINOR niggle, but you brake the Leslie by stepping on both footswitches at once. Fine, but awkward out shoes :-)

- The colour is not the most attractive brown. I suppose it goes for a "wood" vibe to match a Leslie speaker.... now if they did a real woodgrain finish that would be awesome.

- The Octave on/off is a small slider switch. Bit fiddly to reach (it is on the front panel of course) so I just leave it on and turn the Octaves to zero until I need them.

Finally, I come back to the SOUND. This is incredible for a pedal at this price. Since buying it two weeks ago, it has gained my rare "always on" status on my board. I just keep a nice slow rotation speed which adds some movement to chords and a bit of interest to solos. Works really nicely with Hendrix-type double stops too.

OVERALL, I love this pedal already, and strongly recommend it on price alone. Keyboard players, forget that built-in Leslie sound and try this if you can live with mono-only inputs.

**** I just looked at Nux web site, and do not see it listed. I cannot believe they are discontinuing this pedal, maybe I couldn't find it. May be best to order yours NOW!

Bref, un must have !
