General

Save yourself the trouble of having to deal with an original old Airline guitar, and quite a lot of money to boot, with this reissue by Eastwood. Eastwood's Airline '59 2P DLX was modelled after the Valco/Supro Airline models of the late fifties and early sixties. This red version was popularised by Jack White and Jimmy Page, among others. This guitar offers you the same unique and quirky looks, at a musician-friendly price. As opposed to the standard Airline 2P DLX, this version has historically accurate body bindings, a pickguard with a pinstripe and a vintage switch plate. This left-handed version also comes with a luxury Airline case.

Airline '59 2P DLX: adapted to the needs of modern guitarists

This reissue of the classic Airline features a hollowed-out mahogany body instead of one of two-parts fibreglass, making it feel more rugged and stable as well as producing a fuller, more resonant tone. The comfortably shaped maple neck features a 20-fret rosewood fretboard with beautiful block inlays and is bolted onto the body. The two Airline Vintage Voiced single-coil pickups of this 2P version look like humbuckers and yet produce that rich, clear and twangy sound. Both pickups have their own separate volume and tone control. Additionally, there's a master volume control and a 3-way pickup switch for a wide range of vintage Airline sounds.

Hardware and special features

The left-handed Eastwood Airline '59 2P DLX is equipped with a fully adjustable Tune-O-Matic bridge with a trapezoid tailpiece to which the strings are attached. The tuners are a set of smooth yet solid Vintage Kluson types. The Airline model is characterised by its unique angular design and beveled body edges. This '59 version has distinctive rubber bindings that originally covered the seam between the two halves of the fibreglass body. Also, the white switch plate was replaced by a vintage-type one with Tone Switch indicators.
