nanoPad 2: drumming without a drumkit

Goed voor de beginnende muzikant en producer.
Ik kan er aardig drumpartijen op intikken, een beetje oefening baart kunst. De XY pad werkt als een chaospad generator, en levert zeer bruikbare effecten op. Je kunt de NanoPad ook als een soort solo hand held instrument gebruiken... Filmpje staat op Youtube..
Voor 44 euro een heel leuke toevoeging bij mijn setup.
Extern gevoedde USB hub ertussen (een Trust.com/17525) ging m'n pc (win7) nogal raar van doen (memory leak leek het, alles liep vast kon alleen nog naar mn desktop kijken, niets opstarten), terwijl andere apparaten via dezelfde hub zonder problemen werkte. Of ik drivers van de korg website haalde maakte hierbij niet uit.
Zelfde probleem had ik ook met de korg nanopad.
Nu toch even wat tegenwind geven. De drivers werken niet goed. Alleen de standaard microsoft drivers werken en zorgen ervoor dat ik de Nanopad2 kan zien in de sequencer software. De editor vind de Nanopad2 niet en ook niet met de Korg USB drivers. Misschien een firmware update? Deze kan het apparaat met verschillende drivers ook niet vinden.
De pads vallen tegen. Ze voelen of reageren net allemaal een beetje anders. Hier kun je nog wel aan wennen.
Als je dan ritmes gaat maken komt mijn grootste tegenvaller. De pads sturen (naar schatting) maar 80% van de gespeelde noten door. Dan heb ik over simpele ritmes. Tikken met 2 vingers op dezelfde pad kun je beter niet doen.
Verder is het zacht spelen op de pads moeilijk. De laagste velocity (volume sample) die de midi monitor aangaf lag rond de 64 (1-127).
Al met al dus een groot verschil met de Nanopad1. Heb zelfs nog het idee dat ik misschien een minder goede versie heb.
Inmiddels is de PadKontrol besteld, afgeleverd en gestest. Wereld van verschil. Toch maar mobiliteit inleveren, meer geld, maar dan meer functies krijgen en in staat zijn om alle ritmes te maken wat je maar wil.
1 ster voor de mobiliteit, functies (bijv. meer noten per pad, scenes,..) en een ster voor de prijs, maar vooral de xy pad die er ook op zit.
werkt ook in fruity loops een beetje tweaken en je kan der de leukste dingen uit halen heb hem ook aan geraden aan een klasgenootje van mij die heeft hem meteen besteld en die is er ook zeer tevreden mee
SUPER snel geleverd dat had ik echt niet verwacht !!!
