General
If someone mentions Zildjian, most people will automatically think of cymbals. However, Zildjian has become a big name in drum sticks as well (in fact, in 2010 they merged with Vic Firth), and the company makes sure that their sticks live up to the same high standards they set for their cymbals. Many famous artists proudly endorse these sticks and there are many different shapes and sizes, so there should be a perfect Zildjian stick for everyone!
This is a 7A model drum stick made of hickory with a round, wooden tip. The 7As are a little thinner and lighter than the 5A's, which are the most popular size. This means that they are best suited for drummers who prefer subtlety and speed to raw power. The round, wooden tip allows for a beautiful warm sound, even when played on a cymbal.
Zildjian 7AWD drum sticks: DIP sticks
These aren't just any 7A sticks, however. They feature Zildjian's special DIP coating on the grip area, which provides you with a comfortable, slightly tacky surface for enhanced grip. Because of this, you can relax your hands more, as you won't have to grip your sticks as tightly as usual. This is especially beneficial when your hands get sweaty if you're playing in a small, crowded room, for instance. Finally, the DIP coating can also give you an alternative striking surface, as the coated butt-end of the stick will produce a different sound than the tip.
