Whether you're playing a game, on the go, or doing some serious work with your Adobe suite...the V55B's cover all the bases, and pretty well. I did have to spend about 2 hours messing about with the HD audio settings for my soundcard to get the absolute best sound, but it was more than worth the hassle.
Also, one quick basic test of any headphone set is to apply gentle pressure to the headset and see if the quality improves. Doing so with the V55Bs makes absolutely no difference. They also provide pretty good ambient noise elimination, despite not being the "full" over-ear cup design I would normally favour.
I did find them a little power hungry for use with portable devices (tablet/phone)...but they are proper headphones, and not buds. So unless you want to spend a hell of a lot more money to save a little power, and to be honest not really gain any noticeable performance, it's in no way a deal breaker.
If you don't have money to burn, another brand preference/loyalty, need to make some sort of fashion/status statement, or want to be able to boast about your headphones based on pretty much nothing more than numbers and other technical data...the MDR V55Bs are a pretty good all-round option.

Minpuntje.
